New York–based stylist Kate Young devotes her YouTube show, Hello Fashion, created with The Slowdown, to explaining the ins and outs of celebrity styling. Her wide-ranging explorations about what it’s like to work inside the world of high fashion showcase her wealth of knowledge and experience—but leave little room for her to talk about an equally compelling subject: herself. On the series’ fifth episode, Young answers various audience questions, submitted in the comments section of her YouTube channel and on her Instagram.

Young knocks out most of the rapid-fire queries with honest, efficient responses. We learn how she keeps herself organized (bullet journals), what she eats each day (kale), the name of her favorite perfume (Le Labo’s Gaiac 10), and if she thinks sweatpants are a pandemic fad (“unfortunately, no”). She goes into detail about why her experience of working at Vogue was so invaluable, what she looks for when considering new designers for her clients, and her advice to students looking to break into styling.

Young’s most revealing answers are anecdotes that contextualize her passion for clothing. Asked about her favorite fashion moment, her face lights up. “The first time I went to Milan was for the [fall/winter 2004] Tom Ford Gucci show,” she says. “In the end section, it rained white roses, and ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ played, and I cried.”
